The launch of the Sheffield Design Awards

It’s time for design pundits, community groups and members of the public to cast their votes for the city’s best building as the second Sheffield Design Awards are launched.

The competition is being run in partnership by Sheffield Civic Trust (SCT) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Yorkshire.

Sheffield Design Awards are held every two years and open to any project within the city’s boundary. There are several new categories this year, including:

  • Best building award for the most successful contemporary design for a new building in the city.
  • Public space award for successful spaces, streets and squares around buildings.
  • Conservation award for adaptation and restoration of historic and significant buildings in the city.
  • Small project award for projects and extensions under a contract value of £250K.
  • Residential award for one off houses, extensions, apartment blocks and large scale developments.
  • Community design award for community based projects within one of Sheffield's neighbourhoods.
